Lot details Registration No: MG 3329 Chassis No: N 0253 Mot Expiry: None
This historic MG N Type Magnette with V5 - confirming 1934 manufacture and super MG registration MG 3329 - was regularly raced with great success in VSCC, AMOC and MGCC meetings by its previous owner, Peter Cranage, who owned the characterful machine for over 42 years. The single seater bodywork is sound, says the entrant, and, though the upholstery is described as being basic, the cream paintwork does have great patina. Both 1286cc overhead cam six and 4-speed box are said to be in excellent order. The car will pull 5500rpm in top on the 8/39 axle. Indeed, all the mechanical components are described by the South Coast vendor as working like a fine Swiss watch!
The pointed tail body, which was acquired and fitted to the chassis over 30 years ago, is the original and genuine TT-winning, ex-Dodson MG NE body. The whole car gives the impression that it has just finished a prewar race - even the fuel filler cap on the car was supplied by Thompson and Taylor of Brooklands. In the comprehensive history file is exactly that - much history - listing some of the enormously impressive competition successes achieved by this car from 1969-1995.
The car has the all-important Vintage Sports Car Club Eligibility Document, which would enable the next guardian of this historic MG to take part in all manner of motoring events in company with similarly equipped fellow enthusiasts.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
