The Citroen 5CV was in fact the French equivalent to our Austin 7 and made its debut in 1922 in a production run that lasted almost five years. In a similar vein to its larger stable mates the 855cc engine proved virtually indestructible and was built under licence in Germany by Opel where it was known as the Laubfrosch or Tree Frog.
This is a lovely example, which is still in its original left hand drive configuration and was restored around 1993 at the Colchester Technical Institute. It is recorded with the Vintage Citroen Register and it is described as being in very good condition throughout. The present owner has kept the car since 1999 and it is only reluctantly for sale from the Hampshire area due to an unfortunate bout of ill health.
This is a lovely little tourer, which are now rare on today's roads and we are sure its sleek lines will smile at somebody at today's sale.
