The Sunbeam Speed Twenty was produced over a two year period from 1933 but relatively few were made and its main competition was the Talbot 105. It was good for 82mph, delivering 62mph in third, and were very attractive with the lovely low windscreen and twin side mounted spares combine in a most rakish saloon that will rival any Delage, Lagonda or Bentley with Sunbeam dependability and quality and a lusty 3 litre engine.
The particular example we have on offer today was supplied new in July 1934 by Boon & Porter Ltd to the Turnbull family of Woking and it was registered M4 which had been transferred from their 1903 De Dion Bouton. It was kept by them until 1957 when the new owners registered it 172 BPH and then subsequently became, on another change of ownership, the Wolverhampton mark JW 5318. Seven further owners have cherished this most elegant and rare Sunbeam with only five 'Monte Carlos' being known - two in Jersey, one in Ireland and the one other in the Midlands.
The car comes with an extensive history file, the original handbook, the fitted suitcases and tools and between 1986 and 1998 it was owned by a Somerset enthusiast who carried out much sympathetic work to it including rebuilding the engine about 4000 miles ago.
It is in good and largely original condition throughout and please note the very rare Somerset RAC badge which still adorns the car.
