Porsche's famous 911 roared onto the world motoring stage in 1964, the rear-engined, air-cooled icon remaining in production for more than thirty years. Initially a 1991cc horizontally opposed, six cylinder engine was employed. Although, along with a lengthened wheelbase, the engine capacity increased first to 2.2-litres, then 2.4, next 2.7, followed by 3.0 and then 3.2 - as with the 1985-manufactured 911 being auctioned here.
The fixed head coupe on offer is a righthand drive, 3.2-litre Supersport with Turbo-style bodywork in black with black interior. The car, which has a believed to be genuine 113,000 miles on the odometer when entered for this sale, sits on Cup 2 alloys and has air conditioning. We understand from the entrant that the seats are electrically operated as is the sunroof. Body and chassis are said to be in very good order, the car having been repainted in 2002, when the engine and transmission were also rebuilt and a stainless steel exhaust fitted. The vendor tells us that the car has only been driven 1000 miles since this work was carried out.
