The Naples area built Alfa Sud (Sud for made in the south) was quite a departure for Northern Italian based car makers Alfa Romeo when they started producing the front-wheel drive, flat-4 pot 1186cc powered, Guigiaro-designed 4-door saloon in 1972. A 5-speed box was soon fitted and a 2-door version offered. Larger engines of 1286cc capacity were fitted from 1977 until 1980, and then a 1490cc option from 1978 to 1983. By 1983, when replaced by the Alfa 33, a total of 825,301 Suds had been made.
The entrant of this Alfa Sud tells us that the 1200 TI coupe was purchased new in 1977 from Mangoletsi and is a one lady owner example with only 28,000 miles on the clock. Full history is on file until 1992 when the bodyshell was waxoyled and the car put away into storage.
Today, this still very original motor car is in altogether good condition, including the red paint which has some attention recently, while the interior in black and grey is reportedly very good indeed. As would be expected with such a low mileage car, apparently it drives beautifully. All documentation for the car is on file, including an article from 1993 which records when the car was taken off the road and put away.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
