Lot details Registration No: XXC 788K Chassis No: 1094P Mot Expiry: May 2003
Growing out of small racing team orientated enterprise, Lotus rapidly developed its road car business in the 1960's and 1970's. All the 1970's cars had backbone chassis frames and came with either the Lotus Ford twin cam or the Lotus 16 valve engines. The untimely death of its founder, Colin Chapman in 1982, enabled the company to be absorbed by General Motors.
We are pleased to offer you today a rare and highly usable example of the Europa Twin cam, which dates from 1972. In 1997 the car was stripped to a bare shell and fully re-sprayed and it has only covered 2000 miles since. There are various bills and photographs with the car and the club Lotus valuation of £8000, and it is indeed described as being in very good condition throughout and comes with the manual 4-speed gearbox and loads of adrenaline.
There were only 9000 examples of Europa built in all its guises and they were capable of some 120mph. Rarely seen these days but their road holding is still awesome.
Please note: This vehicle is now taxed and tested until May of next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
