First registered in Spain, this 1966 200D estate was soon serving a French Planter and his family in the Belgian Congo, providing them and their possessions with the means of escape from a bloody coup, via Zambia, to old Rhodesia, where it was acquired by a Big Game Warden.
This extraordinary vehicle then transported the new owner all over what became Zimbabwe, as well as crossing the Congo and the Kafue, the Zambeze and Limpopo, the Vaal and Orange rivers, the Tropic of Capricorn, the Drakensburg mountains and completing an annual 3000 mile trip to Capetown.
Having run the gauntlet with terrorist gunmen, the old girl was finally shipped to Hull in 1978. For the next 15 years, the faithful workhorse carried the same owner safely around England and Scotland, before changing hands again after 23 years service!
The Yorkshire owner tells us the bodywork is sound, the ivory paint good, the light tan interior very good, and the 2-litre 4-cylinder engine, though not the original, and manual gearbox also both good. It has clearly travelled very well!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
