BSA’s original Golden Flash was the 1950 introduced 650cc 35bhp A10 which was capable of very nearly 100mph. In 1954, the old plunger design of rear suspension was updated to swing-arm type, whilst Super Flash and Road Rocket versions gave riders a little more power and speed. It was the 1958 season’s A10S, the Super Rocket with its 43bhp engine, that provided customers with 105mph top speed capability.
However, the rarest and most desirable of all these Beeza variations on a theme was the Rocket Gold Star of 1962. Consisting of slightly tweaked Super Rocket twin motor in a frame based on that of the Gold Star single, and with forks, brakes and wheels also sourced from the Gold Star, the fastest and best handling A10 had close-ratio box, Siamese exhaust and rear-set footrests.
This 1959-dated BSA 650 is authentically presented as a Rocket Gold Star Replica, which, claims the vendor, 'sounds as good as she looks'. Apart from having a new alloy Goldie tank, many genuine Rocket Gold Star parts, such as model-correct mudguards, the restored classic 650cc twin in traditional black has a V5 confirming the 762 UXE registration.
