Lot details
Registration No: 496 UXO
Chassis No: 907620
Mot Expiry: July 2006
Introduced in 1929, the Citroen C4 was a well executed if somewhat conventional design. Based on a sturdy ladder frame chassis, it was equipped with all round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Powered by a 1,628cc four-cylinder sidevalve engine mated to a three-speed manual gearbox, it gained 'Moteur Flottant' flexible engine mountings in 1931. Reputedly capable of 90km/h, it could be had as a saloon, convertible, coupe (faux cabriolet), familiale or taxi etc.
Finished in blue over black with light brown cloth and vinyl upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is described by the vendor as variously being in condition 1 (chassis), condition 2 (engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, wheels / tyres) or condition 2-3 (bodywork, paintwork). Treated to a front axle overhaul (springs, steering, brakes) last year, other recent mechanical work has seen its rear springs removed, re-greased, and reinstalled. While, cosmetically it has benefited from new running boards, sundry re-chroming (radiator front / top, indicator covers) and the re-enamelling of its Citroen badge. Said to be suffering from a faulty ammeter (the unit shows the charging rate but no discharge), this practical four-door saloon has been in the current ownership since 26th November 2002. Originally manufactured in Paris (or so an accompanying letter from the Citroen Car Club states), it is offered for sale with MOT certificate current until 11th July 2006 and historic class (Free) road tax until 31st July 2006.
PLEASE NOTE: We apologise but this vehicle has been withdrawn from the sale, but will be in our November 23rd sale.
