Carlo Abarth came to Turin in 1947 as a Porsche project engineer and was involved in the ill-fated Cistalia program. After that he stayed on in Turin forming his own company that specialised in tuning Fiat's, which continued right up to modern times.
The tremendous example we have for you today was built from a one owner original right hand drive 1964 Fiat 600D by the enthusiast classic racer Joel Wykeham. It was built to 1963 Nurburgring specification, with a specially imported Sparco cage, and the engine is a race tuned unit with an Abarth ¾ race camshaft and inlet manifold system and twin choke downdraft Webbers.
It has competed at the Goodwood Revival, both in 1988 and 1999, in the St Mary's Trophy race and also has competed at Silverstone in the HSCC one-hour endurance race. It comes with straight through exhaust and various spares and is eligible for our own Top Hat series this year. Wonderful!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
