Lot details Registration No: XX 286 Chassis No: 9374 Mot Expiry: None
The Morgan is unique among the world's cars because, apart from the power unit, the design has changed little in over sixty years and by today's standards it is frankly hard riding and uncomfortable and still there is a waiting list a mile long and it is also strange that it is still run by the son of the man who founded the company some ninety years ago. We have pleasure today in offering you today a Grand Prix open two seater example from the very early days which was so called because W.G. McMinnies won the cyclecar grand prix at Amiens in 1913.
It dates from 1925 and is naturally fitted with the water cooled JAP engine and was bought by the present owner from the widow of a Morgan Three Wheeler Club member some years ago. The present owner has completed a substantial amount of restoration on the vehicle including having the engine fully rebuilt (it still requires running in) and the trim replaced and it still comes with what we believe to be its original registration number of XX 286.
It is only being sold today to fund another project and we sincerely hope to see this on the hill and tracks around the country very shortly.
Please note: This car has not been running whilst in our care.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
