1992 Bentley Brooklands

Estimated at £9,000 - £10,000

Lot details
Registration No: T.B.A.
Chassis No: SCBZEOZA7PCH47152
Mot Expiry: Feb 2008

Intended to evoke memories of the famous Weybridge circuit where W.O.'s creations had competed so successfully during the 1920s and 1930s, the Bentley 'Brooklands' was launched in September 1992. Sporting a colour-coded radiator grille surround, revised front air dam and streamlined door mirrors, it rode on 16-inch alloy wheels shod with low profile tyres. Sharing the same four-door monocoque bodyshell as its 'Eight' and 'Mulsanne S' predecessors complete with all-round independent suspension (self-levelling to the rear), power steering, hypoid bevel final and four-wheel ABS disc brakes, the newcomer benefited from computer-governed Automatic Ride Control. Reputedly some twelve percent more fuel-efficient thanks to the adoption of a new engine management system, throttle body, low-loss intake manifold and cylinder heads, its 6750cc V8 was allied to four-speed automatic transmission. While, internally the 'Brooklands' was treated to a new walnut fascia, tilt steering wheel, improved air conditioning system, vertically pleated leather door trims and a centre console mounted gear selector. Reputedly capable of 133mph and initially priced at £91,489, the model remained in production until 1997 by which time some 1,208 standard wheelbase cars are thought to have been made.

Finished in green with magnolia leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "average" condition with regard to its engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Said to have had just "three previous owners" and to possess "nine service stamps", it is believed but not warranted to have covered some 93,000 miles from new. Currently undergoing a cherished number plate transfer, the Bentley is understood to "drive very well".
