Although the publicity blurb from Rolls-Royce has always claimed it to be 'the best car in the world', that must have had a hollow ring in the 1930's because although the Phantom II and III were magnificent vehicles they were surely outshone by machinery such as Bentley's Eight Litre and Hispano's H6 and J12. The Phantom II was really a modernised Phantom I with all the Ghost influences swept away and came in two chassis lengths of which this particular example had the longer 150" version.
It has been with the present owner for the last ten years and it has been mainly used for weddings which it has accomplished very successfully and has been highly sought after. It has twin sidemounts with covers and has received four new tyres this year and one can only say that the owner has ensured that mechanically it has been kept completely up to scratch.
The Phantom II is one of the best cars Rolls ever built in this period and indeed this particular limousine with coachwork by Hooper is in lovely order and will reward its new owner handsomely for many years to come.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
