Lot details
Registration No: DSK 907
Chassis No: HBT7-L11568
Mot Expiry: July 2008

Introduced in March 1959, the 3000 was arguably the most famous Big Healey model. Forged on the rally stages and race circuits of Europe its reputation as a competition car endures to this day. Powered by an enlarged 2912cc BMC C-Series OHV straight-six engine developing some 124bhp and 167lbft of toque, it was notably faster than its predecessors. Fitted with wire wheels and adjustable front seats as standard, the model further benefited from the adoption of Girling front disc brakes. A strong seller on both sides of the Atlantic, the 3000 was available in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 (BT7) guises.

Finished in Old English White with red leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis and wheels / tyres (though, he notes that the paintwork suffers from "slight crazing"). Supplied new to America, 'DSK 907' was repatriated in 1990. Subsequently "converted to right-hand drive and fitted with a new wiring loom, brakes and suspension" as part of an extensive body restoration, the last decade is said to have seen it treated to "a thorough retrim (1997) and engine / gearbox / overdrive overhaul (2000)". The subject of recent servicing work at Rawles during which it reportedly gained "a gearlever-mounted overdrive switch and Hi-Torque starter" the roadster further boasts "a Mallory, remote oil filter conversion and replacement radiator". Acquired as the basis for a historic rally car and only reluctantly offered for sale due to a change of plans, 'DSK 907' is accompanied by sundry invoices and MOT certificate valid until July 2008.

PLEASE NOTE: CONTRARY TO THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE CATALOGUE THIS LOT IS NOT ACCOMPANIED BY A HARDTOP. THE HARDTOP PICTURED IN THE CATALOGUE IS AVAILABLE BY SEPARATE NEGOTIATION FROM THE VENDOR.
