1975 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible

Sold for £25,875

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: POT 710
Chassis No: DRH20289
Mot Expiry: None

As it did in period, a Corniche Convertible represents a particularly opulent example of wind-in-the hair motoring - and exclusive driving at that, as of the Series I Corniches produced between 1971 and 1977, just 1,233 were Convertibles. Forming part of the collection since November 2001, chassis DRH20289 was reportedly acquired because it drove so well and had good doors. Benefiting from an extensive bodywork restoration soon thereafter which saw attention paid to its front / rear panels, wings, wheelarches and outer sills, the Rolls-Royce was resprayed in Georgian Silver. Having had just two previous keepers for four and twenty-two years respectively, the Corniche's Oxford Blue leather upholstery was in fine fettle. Though, its sumptuous interior was nonetheless treated to re-lacquered wood veneers, new carpets / rugs and a re-covered Everflex hood (complete with West of England grey cloth headlining). Riding on wire wheels and sporting rejuvenated brightwork not to mention a fresh exhaust, the four-seater was entrusted to Chassis Clean during September 2004 (underside steam cleaned / any surface rust coated with FE123 rust convertor / cavities and floorpan given a Dinitrol 3125 wax coating / Dinitrol 4941 underseal applied). Kept in a heated garage and understood to have covered some 7,500 miles during the current ownership, the Rolls-Royce currently displays an unwarranted (but not inconceivable) 96,500 miles to its odometer. Passing its last MOT test on August 5th 2011 (some 300 miles ago), `POT 710' started readily and ran well upon a recent inspection but will require re-commissioning prior to road use. Still highly presentable, this stylish Corniche Convertible is offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, sundry restoration bills, various maintenance invoices (from marque specialist Gary Bretherton), expired MOTs dating back to 2002 and its original road wheels.
