Lot details Registration No: KKO401E Chassis No: HC5388CVO Mot Expiry: May 2004
In 1962, and following prewar practice of fitting 6-cylinder motors in hitherto 4-cylinder powered chassis, Triumph introduced their Vitesse with 1596cc 6-cylinder engine in a lengthened Herald frame, with similar body panels and modified front end incorporating four headlamps.
The Staffordshire vendor of the Vitesse on offer tells us that he has owned his Coventry-built 1967 convertible for the last eleven years. The open bodywork was professionally restored in 1992, the car having only been driven 3000 'dry' miles and always kept in a heated garage since. The body is reportedly still very good with green paintwork and red interior also both good, whilst the 1998cc 6-cylinder engine is in very good order and the 4-speed manual gearbox good.
We are advised that a number of extras are fitted, including desirable overdrive, helpful wing mirrors and useful tonneau cover.
Potential buyers are also strongly advised to check out a substantial history file in the documents office at Buxton, the receipts detailing considerable work carried out to engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes and bodywork. Also included are MOT certificates for the past ten years.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
