The Swallow Doretti was hand-built at Walsall airport in Staffordshire and was a fast touring car, which was named after Dorothy, a daughter of one of the originators.
In the mid 1950's a master at the Mill House School owned this example and it is possible that it spent some time in a museum in Norfolk according to Mr Cyril Harvey of the Doretti registrar. In the early 1980's it was found in a lock-up in Kingston upon Thames and as no rent had been paid it was taken to the scrap yard on a lorry but luckily was spotted by a Mr Edwards who made a deal with the scrap yard owner there and then. In May 1987 it was bought by Duncan Rabagliati and became part of his large collection and was regularly used and much loved by Duncan's daughter.
It was auctioned from his collection, having already appeared in an article in Practical Classics Magazine, and the present owner bought it shortly afterwards having seen it at Silverstone. She had fallen in love with it from day one and it has been her daily transport ever since and has never let her down.
It is only reluctantly for sale here today and is in lovely condition throughout.
