The MV Agusta marque returned to production during 1997/98 thanks to the efforts of the Catiglioni brothers, who had previously been responsible for the revival of the Aermacchi marque, later to be known as Cagiva, Husqvarna and most notably, Ducati.
The new 750cc twin cam F4 was the work of renowned Italian designer Massimo Tamburini who created a machine that was both breathtakingly beautiful but also blisteringly quick, initial versions producing a claimed 126bhp. The F4 was unusual in featuring a "cassette" gearbox and employed a single sided swinging arm, however the single most striking feature was arguably the four under-seat exhaust pipes, a view that would become familiar to riders of lesser machines!
From the outset of production "special editions" were a feature of the MV range, the first 300 machines built were typed the "Oro" and featured a higher specification than the standard F4, this pattern was repeated with the Evo 02 variants, introduced during 2002, when 300 machines were built to higher specification and sold for a premium to raise funds for the Instituto Ayrton Senna, a charity founded by Senna to aid children in his native Brazil. Instantly recognisable thanks to the black and red paintwork that adorns its bodywork, the "Senna" limited edition utilised the 136bhp Evo 02 engine redlined at a higher than standard 13,900rpm. Higher specification suspension components were also employed and carbon fibre was utilised in the construction of the bodywork. Unsurprisingly the "Senna" became an instant collectors item and is now highly prised by enthusiasts.
This example, number 105, has had only one previous recorded keeper and is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout. It displays a warranted 1558 miles supported by a full service history. A number of items accompany the machine, which is offered with a Swansea V5C, current road fund licence, valid until the end of April 2009 and an MOT certificate valid until the 26th April 2009, including a MV Agusta cover, paddock stand, spare key, five rear sprockets, two exhaust systems, two chips and an owners handbook. A Datatool System 3 is fitted to the machine. Adding to the inherrent appeal of the machine is the fact that the seat has been signed by Giacomo Agostini, John Surtees and Phil Read.
