There's no shortage of racing for Healeys, either in FIA series or in club races and sprints, and this attractively-presented car is sure to be competitive in any of them. It was scratch built from a two-seat (BN7) MkII as a turn-key racer by Bill Rawles Motorsport in 2006/'07 and then lightly campaigned in club sprint races. Over the winter of 2007/'08 it underwent an extensive overhaul by Denis Welch Motorsport with all necessary upgrades `regardless of cost' to make it a truly competitive and reliable car for international endurance racing. Since then it has been raced as a second car across Europe: Spa, Paul Ricard, Monza, Silverstone, Donington with Masters, Gentleman Drivers and GTSCC, the most notable being pole position at Thruxton in a National All Healey championship race.
The full spec is exhaustive, and mouthwatering, but here's a taster: all aluminium panels, roll cage with door bars, lightweight hardtop, Sparco race seats, TRS harnesses, plumbed-in 4-litre extinguisher system; race engine including steel billet crank, steel rods, forged Cosworth pistons and aluminium cylinder head and triple Weber carburetors; complete Welch exhaust system, side exit with race silencer, oil cooler, brass water radiator, long-range tank, race alternator, high torque pre-engaged starter motor, lightweight battery; race gearbox - centre-shift, Sebring straight-cut gears on heavy-duty main shaft with uprated competition overdrive, race 4.375:1 rear axle with clutch type limited-slip diff; reinforced chassis, race suspension to latest specification, (up-rated shocks/springs/front anti-roll bar, DWR heavy-duty front stub-axles), high-ratio steering box with safety column protection; competition disc brakes all round, complete with adjustable balance bar and front servo.
The Healey also has a heated windscreen and rides on 72-spoke wire wheels with part-worn 5.50L Dunlop tyres. As ever, competition cars represent a super bargain because they can be bought for less than they cost to build, making a complete car a very attractive proposition rather than building from scratch - plus this one is on the button and ready to go. It is sold with V5C and MOT, plus Current FIA Historic Technical Passport. The vendor says: "Absolutely ready to race with HTP papers, with even a fully serviced extinguisher! A reliable, very striking front runner with the right driver or a lot of fun for a beginner".
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until December 2009.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
