We are indebted to the Vendor for the following information:

I purchased my Cortina 2.0 GL Estate car New from my local Ford main dealership in September 1981 the car is finished in Ford matallic Crystal Green it is the 1982 model and has an uprated spec compared to the 1981 car. I have all the original purchase documentation receipt and original Ford sales brochures etc.

In 1991 I decided I was going to keep the car so I installed a new factory Ford engine this again was done by a local Ford main dealership at a cost of £1,400. In 2008 the Cortina taken of the road and was subject to a ground up restoration over a period of approximately 6 years with no expense spared.

The Engine had a complete overhaul with block rebore new pistons crankshaft reground, new camshaft and rockers cylinder head skimmed hardened valve seats for unleaded petrol new twin choke webber carburettor, water pump new timing belt and all engine ancillaries are also new, alternator starter motor battery etc. The car was also fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system some years ago and it is still in excellent condition. The sport's wheels were refurbished and new tyres fitted, any panels needing replacement were Genuine Ford where possible. The cortina has had all the box section and the inside of all the doors thoroughly treated with Bilt Hamber Cavity Wax and the under body has been painted the same colour as the car and been treated with under body wax not underseal so nothing is covered up and you can see all the metal. The restoration cost in the region of £15,000.

The Ford Cortina Mark V was announced on 24 August 1979. Officially the programme was code named Teresa, although externally it was marketed as "Cortina 80", but the Mark V tag was given to it immediately on release by the press, insiders and the general public. Largely an update to the Mark IV, it was really a step between a facelift and a rebody. The Mark V differentiated itself from the Mark IV by having revised headlights with larger turn indicators incorporated (which were now visible on the side too), a wider slatted grille said to be more aerodynamically efficient, a flattened roof, larger glass area, slimmer C-pillars with revised vent covers, larger slatted tail lights (on saloon models) and upgraded trim. Improvements were also made to the engine range, with slight improvements to both fuel economy and power output compared to the Mk.IV. Ford claimed improved corrosion protection on Mk.V models; as a result, more Mk.V's have survived.
