Vauxhall Motors brought out their Light Six in 1933; they Series, as offered here, being of 1530cc capacity and the X Series 1781cc, whilst the 4-speed gearboxes fitted to both Series were very state of the art for their day.
The Staffordshire owner is only parting with the 1934 Luton-built car, he says, because he has been unable to drive it through lack of time. The 52,239 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for the sale is likely to be the genuine total mileage since new. The current overall condition of 6-window saloon body, as well as brown over black paint and dark brown interior, and 1479cc 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox is claimed to be good.
This really is a lovely pre-war motor car to drive that is also blessed with a most pleasing patina, the smell of ancient leather trimmed upholstery inside being particularly noteworthy. The well stocked history file, which shows that there have been very few previous owners, includes the original driver's handbook and many Vauxhall Owners Club journals.
