1965 Porsche 911 Competition Race Car

Sold for £33,750

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: JGC336C
Chassis No: 301621
Mot Expiry: N/A

Eligible for such prestigious events as Classic Le Mans and the Coupe des Alpes, this highly versatile 1965 Porsche 911 Competition car has thrice competed in the Tour Auto de France (1998-2000) as well as racing successfully in the 24-Hours Le Castolet (HSCC 2-litre class). Though, its most recent outing was a 3-Hour Historic held at Spa earlier this year.
Reportedly the subject of an approximately £25,000 bodywork restoration by French firm Rochereau Competition in 1996, this partially seam-welded left-hand drive coupe carries a full Safety Devices roll cage, endurance-racing friendly 80 litre fuel tank (protected by an aluminium undertray) and front right-hand wing mounted oil cooler. Shorn of all extraneous road trim, its interior is equipped with lightweight Sparco seats (complete with four-point harnesses), intercom / helmet net, Brantz retro-trip, co-driver alloy footrest and a hand-held fire extinguisher.
Re-bushed all round its torsion-bar suspension further benefits from a rear anti-roll bar and re-valved rear shock absorbers. Specially modified to accept larger Alfa pistons, the front disc brake callipers wear Porterfield pads (though, Pagid fast road ones are used at the back). Treated to a RS-specification clutch in 2001 (which employs a separate reservoir to that of the brakes), JGC 336C gained a mild steel exhaust the following year. Since fitted with new heat exchangers in deference to the Alpine winter climate, its 2-litre flat-six engine sports correct-type (albeit re-jetted) Solex carburettors and is fed via three facet fuel pumps (the boot-mounted primary feeding twin firewall-mounted secondaries linked to a Filter King).
Alleged to develop some 145.9bhp and 130lbft of torque (figures apparently backed up by accompanying data sheets), it is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Variously described by the present owner as being in mint (chassis, bodywork) or fresh (engine, paintwork, wheels / tyres) condition, this expensively fettled 911 was issued with FIA papers for Group 2 GTS II participation on April 11th 1997.
With a proven acceptance record to some of the best events on the historic calendar, JGC 336C is importantly said to remain Appendix K compliant. Summarised by the vendor as an "all fresh, on the button proper 911", it is offered for sale with history file (FIA papers, bodywork refurbishment invoices / photos, dyno print-outs etc) and a set of spare wheels.

PLEASE NOTE: We have not had this vehicle running.
