This RS roadster was constructed by the 'Which Kit' magazine team from a 1980-dated donor car, with manufacturers input throughout, before being finished off, trimmed and painted by Eldon themselves in 1995. In the history file, which may be inspected in the H&H documents office at Buxton, are all old MOTs to validate the only 4546 mileage (displayed when entered) accrued since construction, the original assembly manual from Eldon as well as the magazine build article and road test report.
The suspension consists of double wishbones at the front with Cortina uprights and brake components; at the back, there is Sierra-based independent suspension with double wishbones attached to alloy hub carriers using shortened Sierra driveshafts and chassis-mounted Sierra differential.
The engine employed for this Lotus Seven style sports is a Pinto 2-litre RS2000 unit, mildly tuned and breathing through a twin-choke Weber, and the 5-speed gearbox has again been sourced from Ford. This unique motor car is not only extremely quick and entirely practical, but is reportedly in mint condition.
