From Russia With Love Collectors DVD
Featuring James Bond's own 4 1/4 Bentley at the beginning of the film in Cambridge. In reality it is in fact 1939 Bentley chassis number B55MX whose first owner was HRH Crown Prince Mihai. After the Bond film use the Bentley was restyled with lower cut doors.
The Bentley 4 1/4 was produced from 1936 to 1940, and was a development of the 3 1/2 litre, with more power, but still a refined six cylinder, this model featuring 4257cc engine. Known as the Silent Sportscar, and perfect for touring both Britain Europe and indeed all over the world. 1254 Bentley 4 1/4 chassis were produced.
In the words of the world famous racer Sir Donald Campbell (writing in The Field and repeated page 12 of the 1936 Bentley Brochure in this collection):
"The engine, steering, suspension, and brakes are absolutely perfection. How can I express my admiration for this product in more glowing terms than this? I have never driven a car that holds the road so well. After the conclusion of my run I came away full of enthusiasm, as the 4 1/4 Bentley is the most amazing proposition which has ever fallen my lot to handle."
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
