Lot details
This is a one-off scratch built 1:10th scale example of the Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill driven No.14 car that raced at the 1958 Le Mans. Sporting no race numbers at the present, they can be produced upon request. This is one of the master's later works of art and of one of the most beautiful he ever built. This tin glazed/brass bodied model is finished in Rosso livery and comes with a perfectly replicated cockpit interior, opening bonnet, boot, together with an accurate interpretation of the Colombo designed three Litre V12 SOHC engine. This model, like all of the Michele Conti models, is scratch built from brass, copper, steel, aluminium, wood, leather, rubber and perspex. Note the wrap around windscreen with chromed rear view mirror, the hand soldered chromed aluminium spoked wheels set into solid rubber tyres, the hinged opening boot showing studded fuel tank and leather strapped tyre, removable bonnet lid, polished fuel filler cap, leather straps to the bonnet and boot, mesh covered front air intake and working panel clips to secure the bonnet and boot. It also benefits from having chrome cockpit furniture, a wood and aluminium steering wheel, racing style gear box/ electrical set up, real leather seats, glass inset framed dials and even a Magnetti Marelli battery to the navigators side floor. Built in 1985, the car is set to a solid wood base with silver incised plaque and a certificate confirming the authenticity of the model. Superb! 39cm in length.
