Lot details Registration No: RAU902M Chassis No: 07230 Mot Expiry: 24.09.2002
The name Ferrari is revered throughout the entire motoring world and that is quite remarkable considering that it has only been around since 1940. The company has won many races and events and in 1946 the first V12 appeared and since 1969 Fiat has been the majority shareholder.
This example of the superbly elegant and highly desirable 246 Dino has the all-important Spider bodywork and was imported new into the UK in 1974 by the original owner. It was sold to the second, and only other private owner, in 1978 and there it remained until his death late last year. Although there would appear to be no substantial history file with the car, the mileage of approximately 50,000 miles is believed to be genuine from new and is corroborated by the collection of MOT certificates that remain with the vehicle. The odometer indicated some 42,000 miles in 1991 when it was replaced and this stunning car has completed a mere 8,500 miles since.
A mere glance at the car will prove that a substantial sum has been spent keeping the vehicle in its present sensational condition and extensive work has recently been carried out on both the brakes, the clutch and the suspension system. It is probably the most practical and usable Ferrari which is not only beautiful to look at but a delight to own and drive - maybe that's why they have proved to be one of the most highly sought after post-war Ferraris.
Please Note: On checking the history file we have noticed that the present private owner and vendor was not included on the V5 registration document until recently and then only so that he could remove the cherished registration number.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
