Lot details
Registration No: WVO699G

Launched in 1967, the first generation Firebird featured distinctive coke bottle styling. Unlike its cousin the Chevrolet Camaro, that was unveiled the same year and shared the same platform, the Pontiac's bumpers were integrated into the overall design. Hard and soft-top versions were offered and the model powered by a large range of straight-six and V8 engines.

This 'matching numbers' Firebird 350 Coupe passed through the factory gates in Norwood, Ohio on January 6th 1970 en route to the supplying dealer, Rockhill Pontiac Inc. of Newark, Delaware. The original colour scheme was Antique Gold coupled with a Black Cordova top and Gold vinyl interior trim. The total sale price was $4,260.90, $1,330 of which related to options that included: 350ci / 5.7litre two-barrel V8 engine (rated at 265hp, 355lbft), Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, push-button radio, offside mirror, Rally II wheels, console, variable ratio power steering, steering wheel tilt, power disc brakes, Soft Ray tint glass, air conditioning and front / rear mats.

The odometer currently displays an unwarranted 77,111 miles and the car's history file indicates that the following components have been attended to over the last 22,000 miles: fuel pump @ 55,350, engine top end @ 55,800 (July 2000 - new valves, guides, rockers, pushrods, valve springs, lifters, camshaft, O-ring seals etc), rear springs @ 56,000, new front / rear dampers @ 58,000 miles (April 2001), front brakes @ 61,000 miles, new BFGoodrich T/A tyres @ 62,000 (July 2006) and master cylinder / booster @ 66,500 miles (Jan 2008), while a performance enhancing Edelbrock intake and 600 cfm carburettor were fitted in April 2009. Now UK registered as 'WVO 699G', the Firebird is being sold complete with: Ames Performance Engineering Catalogue for 1967-1981 Firebirds; Chilton 1967-1981 Firebird Repair Manual; Protect-O-Plate; original jack sticker; factory blue production date sticker and MOT valid until June 7th 2013.
