Original Lotus 'Factory' Envelope - Signed by Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Colin Chapman

Sold for £675

(including buyers premium)

Lot details

Hand-Signed by two F1 World Champions and the Legendary Lotus Team Boss

An extremely rare piece of original factory stationary from 'Team Lotus'.

The envelope features the Lotus badge to the lower left corner and is autographed by-

Norman Graham Hill OBE - (15 February 1929 - 29 November 1975) - two-time Formula One World Champion. He was the only driver ever to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport-the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Indianapolis 500 and Formula One World Championship. Signed in black felt tipped marker - this is the earliest variation of Hill's signature - the small looped G later became much larger on artefacts signed into the 1970s.

Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman CBE (19 May 1928 - 16 December 1982) was an influential English design engineer, inventor, and builder in the automotive industry, and founder of Lotus Cars. Signed clearly in black fountain pen.

James Clark, Jr OBE (4 March 1936 - 7 April 1968), known as Jim (or Jimmy) Clark, British Formula One racing driver from Scotland, who won two World Championships, in 1963 and 1965. Clark was a versatile driver who competed in sports cars, touring cars and in the Indianapolis 500, which he won in 1965. He was particularly associated with the Lotus marque. The envelope is signed in black fountain pen 'Best wishes, J. Clark'.

According to information supplied by the former custodian, these signatures were obtained in April of 1967 - just a short few months before the death of Clark. A small piece of paper inside the envelope has this date noted.

25.5x25.5cm and offered in very good condition. Ideal for framing in a display with photographs of the three personalities.

Extremely rare to find all three of these signatures on the same piece of paper - even rarer for it to be a piece of Lotus stationary.
