Lot details
Registration No: SV 7603
Chassis No: 9751193
Mot Expiry: None

Having first been the President of the Buick Division of General Motors, and then saved Willys Overland and Maxwell-Chalmers, Walter Percy Chrysler had had plenty of the necessary motor industry experience to set up his own automobile manufacturing concern.
Hiring three talented engineers he had spotted at Willys, Messrs Breer, Skelton and Zeder, Chrysler set up shop in a vacant part of a Willy’s factory in New Jersey. Their design for a larger automobile was bought by Billy Durant to be marketed as a Flint, whilst a smaller version formed the basis for the first of many Chryslers.
In 1927, Chrysler Motors Limited was set up in Kew, London, to assemble US-made chassis and fit them with British-built bodies. In the same year, Chrysler built and, via 4000 dealers inherited from Maxwell and Chalmers, sold 182,195 cars, making them the seventh largest automobile producer in the US.
The current owner tells us that his 66 Sedan - a right-hand drive four-door built in 1930 - was purchased from the late Doug Connell, and was then used as a weddings car, reportedly being a first time starter and great to drive.
Current condition of both chassis and bodywork are described by the vendor as being very good with cream over brown paintwork, wooden wheels and beige cloth interior also all very good. The 3206cc capacity six is said to work well with four-speed manual gearbox and electrical items also claimed to be in very good order. The tax disc will be valid until the end of May.
