Here is a special Audi, the all-wheel drive Treser Quattro convertible with fold-away hardtop which was specially made for display at the 1984 Birmingham Motor Show. The Panasonic radio with remote control is the original and all the factory hand and service booklets are present. The 26,210 miles displayed when entered is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage. Bodywork, painted red, and black leather interior are claimed to be good, and 2144cc 4-cylinder motor and manual transmission reportedly in good order too.

As Alpina is to BMW and AMG is to Mercedes-Benz, so is the specialist firm of Treser to Audi. Walter Treser, the former head of 4-wheel drive rally development programme, set up separate workshops in the same Audi manufacturing city of Ingolstadt to produce special parts and complete Treser Audis.

One of Treser's most ingenious creations was his version of the Audi Quattro roadster with its clever hinged hardtop which is counterbalanced to disappear rearwards and down below the rear deck. From a seated start by one person, going topless takes a claimed thirty seconds. The luggage space is left undisturbed and is not encroached upon as it often the case with targa-top stowage, the Treser Quattro roadster retaining the boot capacity of the factory's coupe model. The car is no sluggard either with road tests confirming a top-down top speed of 139 mph and, thanks to Quattro 4x4 technology, roadholding is impressive.
PLEASE NOTE: This car used to be registered JAX 1 when it was in LOndon and prior to the purchase by the present owner.
