The Lambretta TV Series 3 range was launched in March 1962 with the 175 model and it was the first scooter supplied with an internal disc brake. It was a remarkable change from the previous TV175 Series 2 with new sleek slim styling. The front shock absorbers were enhanced with extra dampers as in the previous TV Series 2 models. The TV Series 3 also had larger silent blocks than the previous engines and it had a very good reputation as a smooth and well-balanced scooter with great handling attributes. The larger engined TV200 quickly followed the TV175 slim style in early 1963 at the specific request of the British importer Lambretta Concessionaires who wanted an even more powerful model than the TV175 to satisfy their customer base. Genuine TV200 Lambrettas were instantly recognised as the GT200 to differentiate them from the TV175 models.

This mid-production example was first registered on the 9th September, 1964, to a Leslie Goodwin of Huntingdon. We understand that it was sourced from the first owner and restored by Scooter Emporium London, well known for their quality specification around the year 2000. It was sold by Classic Cars Ltd to a Terry Townsend of Essex in 2002 who recently passed it to our vendor for sale. It is evident, from the large number of MOTs supplied, that Mr Townsend kept the scooter regularly in a good roadworthy condition.

We note that a substantial number of the original parts were restored or re-used in what is a very well-presented example of a genuine GT200. The rear frame badge appears to be the original and we understand that the speedometer is the original but with a new face and showing 21,319 miles which is credible. Other original parts are the Noemi Rosa seat with a new cover, original keys - Cama for the steering lock and tool box and Grabor for the ignition, which is also believed to be original. The floor running strips are properly done with possibly re-used original end caps. The front mudguard is a correct fibreglass type. The front disc brake all looks to be original. The side panel badges are also almost certainly original and restored, as are the panel handles. The original standard engine is still fuelled by a correct Dellorto SH1/20 carburettor and running with an Ancilotti-style exhaust. The scooter has been converted to 12v ignition. We were able to see the scooter in running condition at the time of consignment. This an excellent example of an in-demand model with guaranteed provenance coming with the original green logbook and the interim blue V5 and having had the benefit of what appears to be a high-quality restoration.
