The first commercial Lambrettas appeared in 1949 with the FB with its front box and later variations. The first 3-wheeler named Lambro was the FD in a typical tricycle layout with 2 wheels at the back and open with no cab at the front. In 1957 the closed cab version of the FDC appeared and countless variations of economical commercial vehicle were derived from this including fire engines, council vehicles, food dispensers and much more. The Lambro went through a large number of upgrades as the years went on. The FLi Mk1 was launched in 1959 with an increased engine size to 175cc and with the same handlebars as the Li series 1 scooter. With 6V electrics it had a windscreen wiper and the spare wheel was stored under the body truck style. The FLi Mk 2 was the most popular of any Innocenti Lambros produced and was sold for 5 years. It had a wider cab than the Mk1, sidelights and indicators on the front of the cab, a wider front mudguard and light clusters each side at the back instead of a single light.
This Lambro was manufactured in January of 1962 according to amended records supplied by thelambro.com. This straight example appears to have last been on the road in Italy in 1975 according to the tax certificate found in the cab. It has survived remarkably well and on inspection the only corrosion other than surface rust could be seen on the tipper flap. The floor is also solid and there are no signs that we could see of any previous welding repairs. The doors closed nicely and the door quarter lights worked as they should. The passenger seat and back rest appear in good original condition. Were unable to see the vehicle running. However, in terms of being complete it appears to have everything necessary to restore except the rear cab canvas back which are now available remade. The FLi will still need to be registered for the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a really nice attractive quirky commercial vintage vehicle. An ideal base vehicle possibly for conversion to a number of commercial uses or mobile catering.
