The chic two-seater Boxster was unveiled in late 1996 and was the first road-going Porsche since the 550 Spyder to be designed from scratch as a Roadster. It was penned by Dutch designer Harm Lagaay, who was also primarily responsible for the 968, 993, Cayenne, 996, and Carrera GT. The Boxster sobriquet was a contraction of 'boxer-engined roadster' - the newcomer being a convertible with a water-cooled flat-six engine mounted amidships. The 987 version debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show with styling amendments which included modified headlights, larger side intake vents, and enlarged wheel arches to allow wheels up to 19 inches in diameter. Interior revisions included a more prominent circular theme for the instrument cluster and cooling vents.

This example was manufactured in 2005 and first UK registered in March that year. An early 987, it is fitted with the 2.7-litre flat-six engine and automatic transmission, with Black leather interior trim and hood, with the additional factory option of the leather-trimmed dashboard. Having covered only 76,855 miles from new across four total keepers, the Boxster is benefitting from a major service at Cavendish Porsche Specialists in January this year which included new spark plugs, a brake fluid change, replacement gearbox oil and filter, and new water pump costing circa £1,500. Fitted with a new throttle pedal and body in the last six months, ‘LJ05 FHP’ is also offered with stamped service book with only Porsche main dealer and specialist stamps, as well as PCM, Dealer Directory, and Drivers Manual books in the original wallet. Accompanied by a spare key, V5C, and MOT until October 2021.
