The Karmann-Ghia was produced with two body styles in the form of the fixed head coupe and the cabriolet and, as the name would suggest, this Ghia designed car had a children only rear seat. They were produced for seveteen years, a very long run, with four engine options and in all something half a million examples left the V.W. factories.
This particular example has recently returned from Port Elizabeth in South Africa and as you can imagine with the climate over there it is lovely condition throughout and is still in its original right hand drive format. We believe it to be a one owner car prior to being purchased by the last owner in 1980 and it has been resprayed recently and is, we believe, a potential concours winner.
Even though a lot were made this is now quite a rare sight on our roads but they are a lovely car both to drive and to look at and this should be keenly contested at today's sale.
Please note: This car now comes with a current MOT and road fund licence. The owner apologises for the mistake, as the catalogue indicated there was neither.
