This 1961 Jaguar Mark 2 saloon has the much preferred manual four-speed gearbox with overdrive and the 3442cc six-cylinder petrol engine. It is a rust-free South African car and therefore an original right hand drive and was owned for twenty four years by the Chief Traffic Officer of Kimberley.
The present private owner has kept the car for the last ten years and although it has not been restored it has been professionally resprayed. When that work was done the car was examined and no welding seemed to have been done or indeed was needed to be done and the odometer reading of 88,880 miles is believed to be genuine from new.
It is described as being in excellent condition throughout and although these cars do not quite have the cachet of the examples with the 3.8 litre engine they are almost as quick and in some ways better to drive.
A very good buy for somebody today.
PLEASE NOTE: Our engineer noticed that this car has a small fuel leak.
