Bicycle manufacturer William Morris introduced his first car, the 'Bullnose' Oxford, in 1913 starting a tradition of Morris Oxfords that was to continue right up until 1971. Although smaller models- such as the 'Minor' and the 'Ten'- were the mainstays of the range, Morris also maintained an interest in larger cars. A completely new car was announced for 1934 with a longer and stronger chassis and flexible mountings for the 2002cc engine whilst the gearbox gained synchromesh. Initially it kept the 'Six' name (reflecting the number of cylinders in the engine) but this changed to 'Sixteen' or ‘Twenty’ which came from the car's tax horsepower category.

Manufactured in 1935, this ‘Sixteen’ is fitted with the 2.0-litre straight-six engine mated to the four-speed manual gearbox. Attractively finished in Green and Black with Green leather interior upholstery, the Morris entered current ownership in 2011 as a restoration project. Restored across an eight-year timeframe by the vendor, the remedial works comprised a replacement ash frame from the A-pillars forward; new clutch; bodywork restoration and repaint; new brake and wheel cylinders; new radiator; interior refresh; new exhaust system and an engine service. Offered with the buff continuation logbook, handbook, a collection of MOTs and invoices and current V5C.

Vendor Condition Ratings:

Bodywork: 'Good to Very Good'
Engine: 'Good to Very Good'
Electrical Equipment: 'Good to Very Good'
Paintwork: ‘Good'
Gearbox: 'Very Good'
Interior Trim: 'Very Good'
