The Lambretta TV175 Series 2 was launched in October 1959. It had an engine based on the Li150 series but with an increased capacity and the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The TV175 models were fitted with a Veglia 120km/h or 70mph speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the series 2 Li panels. Often referred to as the ‘tourer’ it had a superb performance coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors.

Winner this year of the coveted ‘Best Lambretta award’ at the Mod Bank Holiday Weekender. This stunning example was inspired by the book ‘Mods’ by Richard Barnes and methodically restored by Ralph Lowe. It has since featured on the front cover of Scootering magazine’s 2010 Christmas issue and again in the magazine in 2021 and is well known on the scooter scene. It has, until now, only been sold between friends. The scooter is still running as a standard 175cc motor with original but refurbished carburettor and runs very well. Engine and frame numbers are correct for the model.

The paintwork is an ornate mix of colour with pin-striping over chrome on the side panels and front fairing and is still extremely presentable. The dazzling array of original accessories has slightly altered over the years but is an impressive and valuable collection in itself, probably more impressive now than at any time in the scooters incarnation. The seat is an original and highly sought-after SAT Torino recovered in correct period upholstery by Kelvin Classic Vehicle Coachworks. The exhaust has twin outrigger thin pipes with a terrific but not exceedingly loud sound. Other original accessories include: ‘Golf ball’ horncast cover, front fender Vigano Clamshell, Super fork boots, jug handle crash bars front and rear (the front bars have holes ready to reinstate wiring for accessory lights), Ulma double leg shield trim, Biemme headlight peak, original full set of blue rubbers for kick, handlebars etc, Alpine horns with compressor, original side panel lightning flashes, Fiamm footboard extensions, Ulma rear rack, Vigano jag lights, original rear and front mudflats with individual leopard print design, front and rear wheel covers with Style spinners, and original Ulma spare wheel disc with Style spinner. The glove box contains a battery that can be used to reinstate a rack of working accessory lights and the compressor for the air horns. The switches on the glove box can all be used to control any additional lights that may wish to be added to the scooter.

This scooter represents a great example of early 1960s Mod scooter style and wants for nothing. It is very rare to come across this desirable model presented so well and with such a valuable array of original accessories which would take extreme patience and expense to source. She is registered for the UK roads and ready to go. Instant cool and a superb investment.
