Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show of September 1983. Estimated to be 80 percent new, the model's 3164 cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to a five-speed manual transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible, making the model capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and a 153mph top speed. In order to cope with the increased performance, the brakes were enlarged and the top two gear ratios slightly raised. Among other improvements was a redesigned timing chain tensioner – the Achilles heel of the earlier engines. Early examples of the 3.2 employed the 915 type manual gearbox with reverse gear located beneath fifth, while 1987 to 1989 models had the stronger G50 unit in which reverse was located beside the fifth ratio. An optional ‘Sport’ pack became available during 1984, comprising a deeper front valance, ‘tea tray’ rear spoiler, stiffer Bilstein dampers and 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels with black centres.
Finished in the archetypal 1980s combination of Guards Red with Black leather upholstery, chassis JS102810 is understood to have been supplied new by Rivervale Porsche of Henley-on-Thames. Notably well-maintained, the Coupe’s accompanying service book carries no fewer than twenty-four stamps. The last of these was added by marque specialist Ninemeister of Warrington less than 1,000 miles ago. The same company also went through the car fettling the engine, gearbox, clutch, brakes, suspension, stereo and underside to the tune of almost £23,000. Understandably said to be in ‘very good overall’ condition, ‘E349 SFX’ passed its most recent MOT test on April 2nd 2026 at 101,006 miles with ‘no advisories’. Riding on Fuchs alloy wheels and sporting a factory-fitted sunroof, Blaupunkt stereo and electric windows not to mention the preferred G50 manual gearbox, the 911 presents very nicely indeed. Offered for sale with book pack, assorted invoices, sundry MOTs and V5C Registration Document.
