The 'S-Type' was Jaguar's first attempt at making a 'small' car since the late 1960s, up until this point they had been content with the Series model 'XJ' and 'XJ40' as the saloon offerings from the company. Debuted at the 1998 Birmingham Motor Show, customers could walk into a Jaguar showroom and choose between the 4 litre V8 or the 3/2.5 litre V6. The 'S-Type' went through three 'life cycle improvements' up until 2007, the 4 litre engine was uprated to 4.2 along with the option of the Supercharged 'S-Type R' variant and a 2.7 litre twin-turbo V6 diesel joined the line-up as the economical offering of the time. Penned by Geoff Lawson, the design evoked the styling of the 1960's (as was popular at the time) reviving the nameplate of the company's 'S-Type' as a four-door nothcback saloon. The 'XF' replaced the 'S-Type', with a new design language that looked forwards rather than back and has been the base of Jaguar's styling til today.
First registered on 12th September 2000, this single family owned from new c.42,000 mile Jaguar S-Type represents a fantastic example of this great marque. In careful and considerate ownership since new until the owner's recent passing, the family have just had the MOT renewed until April 2026 and the vendor informs us that the sills have been inspected by his mechanic and are said to be solid, a common weak point on this era of Jaguar. There are 7 entries in the service book, recording services at 5,644 miles, 13,997 miles, 24,948 miles, 27,189 miles, 30,033 miles and 41,582 miles. As can be expected with the mileage, the interior and exterior are in excellent conditon with the 'Seafrost Green' gleaming in the sun and the interior much the same, even the headlining is still in place and has not drooped! The engine started up trouble-free and the car ran and idled nicely for the full duration of our photography session. It is being offered with the bookpack, invoices and the latest V5C document. Since the start of 2025 over £600 has been spent to replace the battery, fit a new key battery, fix the rear door handle actuator (invoices on file) and carry out an MOT.
