The Scaglietti 2+2 Coupe was penned by Frank Stephenson under Ken Okuyama at Pininfarina, and it is said that the design ideas, especially the strident side scallops and headlights, were a nod to the coach-built 1954 375 MM that film director Roberto Rossellini had commissioned for his wife Ingrid Bergan. The newcomer replaced the outgoing 456 but, being physically larger, was a genuine four-seat Grand Tourer. It was Ferrari's second all-aluminium vehicle (the first being the 360 Modena) and comprised a spaceframe manufactured in concert with Alcoa, that was a combination of extrusions and castings to which the body was then welded. The same chassis formed the basis of Ferrari's 599 GTB flagship Grand Tourer. The front mid-mounted V12 powerplant was shared with the 575 Superamerica and was not 6-litres as the name suggests but 5.7, though big enough for a healthy power output of 533bhp and equally impressive performance figures, including a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed north of the magic 200mph. A total of 3,025 examples were manufactured between 2004 and 2011, all but 199 of which featured the F1A gearbox.
Far from a standard Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, this exceptionally well-specified example was first registered with the DVLA on 10 April 2006. Finished in elegant Nero Daytona Metallic, it is complemented by a matching Nero leather interior trimmed in Ferrari’s desirable Daytona style. Further enhancing its appeal, the car was ordered with a number of sought-after factory options, most notably the HGTS handling package, which introduced a sports exhaust system, revised suspension calibration and stiffer anti-roll bars for a more focused driving experience. Completing the sporting aesthetic are grey 20-inch 599 Challenge-style alloy wheels set over Giallo Modena brake callipers, while Scuderia Ferrari shields mounted to the front wings provide a distinctive finishing touch.
The accompanying V5C records five former keepers prior to the vendor. The first three custodians owned the car until 2011, after which it remained with its fourth owner for over a decade until 2022. Following a brief period with one further owner, the Ferrari was acquired by the current vendor in 2024.
Throughout its life, the 2+2 grand tourer has benefitted from exemplary maintenance and careful stewardship. It retains its original book pack and is accompanied by a comprehensive service history comprising both Ferrari main dealer and marque specialist servicing. Most recently, the car was serviced at approximately 29,000 miles, while its cambelts were replaced around 4,000 miles ago.
Now showing just over 30,000 miles from new, this highly specified 612 Scaglietti presents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s finest modern grand tourers. It is offered with its original book pack and current V5C registration document.
