PLEASE NOTE: When this lot arrived at the auction venue it had no warning lights present and a video was taken to show this. Now the low battery indicator warning has appeared plus an amber engine warning light.
The R230 generation of Mercedes-Benz SL Class was introduced at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show and 2001 Bologna Motor Show, replacing the R129. The R230 underwent revisions in 2006 and 2008 with SL600 being the highest output version of the non-AMG SL Class models. It uses a remarkably robust twin-turbo 5.5-litre V12 engine which produced 493bhp, thus making it a very rapid luxury sports car with 60mph achieved in just 3.6 seconds when tested by Car and Driver despite the factory stating the figure at more modest 4.7! Just over 4,000 SL 600s were made with very few in right-hand drive before the model was superseded by the R231 SL in 2011.
Finished in Green Black Metallic with an exclusive Graphite Nappa leather interior this rare UK supplied R230 SL 600 currently registers some 90,000 miles. Comprehensively equipped from new, specification includes cruise control, heated seats, multi-function steering wheel, heated electric mirrors, individual front heating controls, Command system and auto-dimming rear view mirror etc. Increasingly sought after, this SL comes with Owners’ wallet, handbooks and stamped service book, a collection of invoices, Swansea V5C document and current MOT to December 2026.
