Lot details
Registration No: WX03YCC
Chassis No: OSAGDEGIPTW205052
Mot Expiry: April 2007

Named after a precious metal, the Marcasite was introduced in 2002. Product of the newly revitalised Marcos Engineering Inc, it was heavily influenced by previous Marcos designs such as the Mantis. Boasting more cohesive styling than its predecessors, it was powered by a 2.5 litre Ford V6 engine allied to five-speed manual transmission. A rear-wheel drive sportscar from the old school, it featured all-round independent suspension, power-assisted rack and pinion steering and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Credited with some 180bhp and 162lbft of torque, the Marcasite was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and 142mph. Priced at £38,750 in base trim, it went head to head with the Porsche Boxster S but never met its manufacturer's modest production target of fifty cars per year.
Finished in Merlot Rouge with black leather upholstery (piped in red), this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "as new" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Thought to be one of only nine Marcasite TS250s ever made, 'WX03 YCC' began life as the Marcos sales manager's car. Stored following the company's demise, it has recently been recommissioned by Janspeed and others. Carrying such desirable extras as leather upholstery and air-conditioning, its impressive specification also includes a heated front windscreen, fully lined hood and 17-inch alloy wheels. Believed to have covered just 21,000 miles from new, this modern classic is offered for sale with sundry bills, dyno sheet, current MOT certificate valid until April 6th 2007 and road tax until March 31st 2007.
