Lot details Registration No: SV 9553 Chassis No: 4120094 Mot Expiry: March 2004
Fiat's at the time state-of-the-art Lingotto production plant in Turin (of 'Italian Job' factory test track Mini/Alfa police car chase sequence fame!) went on line in 1923. By the time that the Fiat offered here was built in the 5-storey factory, 18,000 workers were turning out 1200 cars a week there. A total of 42,421 503s, powered by the same 1460cc 23bhp L-head engine as used in the 501, were made at Lingotto between 1926 and 1927.
The 1927 Fiat 503, a rare tourer providing characterful open accommodation for four, has been recently imported from Australia, where it is said to have been fully restored. During its service down-under, it successfully completed a number of Bay to Birdwood Runs.
Today, the bodywork is claimed still to be good, the yellow paintwork fair and the black interior good. Both 4-cylinder 16hp motor and 4-speed gearbox are said to be in good working order, and the car does have the benefit of an MOT test certificate until next March.
PLEASE NOTE: There are some spares with this vehicle and they are viewable in the documentation office.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
