Lot 47

1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport Cabriolet
UK-car with just two owners from new

Estimated at £38,000 - £45,000

Lot details

Registration No: F87 FWE
Chassis No: WP0ZZZ91ZKS150853
MOT: July 2024

  • ‘C16’ UK-supplied, right-hand drive example
  • Two owners from new being retained by the first owner until 2017
  • Warranted 129,000 miles from new
  • Benefitted from a recent full respray in the original Guards Red and new hood
  • Large history file including stamped service book

Estimated to be 80 percent new, the 3.2's flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lb ft of torque. Allied to a five-speed manual transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible, making the model reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and a 153mph top speed. In order to cope with the increased performance, the brakes were enlarged and the top two gear ratios slightly raised. Examples from 1987 onwards had the stronger G50 gearbox in which reverse was located beside the first ratio. An optional 'Sport' pack became available during 1984, and included a deeper front valance, 'tea tray' rear spoiler, stiffer Bilstein dampers and 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels with Black centres. By now all 911s were built with galvanised bodies, so rusting was largely a thing of the past.

This ‘C16’ UK-supplied Sport Cabriolet was supplied new in 1989 and first registered on the road on the 15th of May 1989. Finished from new in the (now) iconic Guards Red paintwork with complementary Cream leather interior upholstery with Red piping, a Black electric hood completes the appearance, with the 911 having been provided with a full repaint and a new hood in 2020. In the possession of just two keepers from new, having been kept in the first ownership until 2017, the Porsche was provided a speedometer change at 127,000 miles, and ‘F87 FEW’ now shows c.2,000 miles on the odometer, totalling c.129,000 miles covered from new. Supplied with the book pack in wallet including the stamped service book, the service book shows fifteen services, all of which have been completed by main dealers and specialists. The history file also includes a collection of maintenance invoices and MOT certificates, as well as a current V5C Registration Documenet. Starting readily and running well for our photography session, ‘C16’ Sport Cabriolets are rare to find in good order, making this well-presented example one not to be missed.
