Introduced in the mid-1990s, the 1997 Triumph Speed Triple occupies an important position in the modern history of the Hinckley marque. Launched at a time when Triumph was re-establishing itself as a serious global manufacturer, the Speed Triple helped define a new class of muscular, road-focused performance motorcycles, combining strong mechanical character with a distinctly British identity.

At its heart, Triumph’s proven 885cc fuel-injected triple-cylinder engine, widely admired for its strong mid-range torque, durability, and everyday usability. Rather than chasing outright top-end speed, the Speed Triple adopted stripped-back styling, exposed mechanical elements, and an upright riding position, marking a deliberate move away from fully faired sports bikes and placing emphasis on real-world performance and rider engagement.

This example benefits from a number of desirable period-style upgrades. A “Cup” exhaust system is fitted, with the original exhaust supplied. The forks are reportedly re-valved and complemented by a Nitron rear shock, braided Goodridge brake hoses are also fitted. The vendor further notes that the standard gearing was considered too short for road use, leading to the installation of a longer-ratio Daytona gearbox, said to improve overall road manners.

Due to ill health, the motorcycle has not been used for many years and will require recommissioning. Offered at no reserve. The V5c is present.
