Registration No: P200 XKR
Chassis No: SAJAC42J0YPA00869
MOT: November 2026
PLEASE NOTE: This lot has been subjected to a fresh MOT valid until November 2026 and passed with no advisories. The vendor would also like us to make intending purchasers aware that a new set of rear tyres are included, plus a Jaguar branded luggage set.
The sleek-looking Jaguar XK8 first broke cover at the 1996 Geneva Salon as a replacement for the aging XJS. Designed in-house by Geoff Lawson, the newcomer (in common with the Aston Martin DB7) was based on a much-modified XJS platform – the changes to which included the adoption of XJ40-type independent rear suspension. The standard version of the XK8 was powered by a 290bhp normally-aspirated version of the company's AJ26 V8 engine, and for those requiring more performance, Jaguar offered a supercharged version, the mighty XKR. Like the XK8, this 370bhp monster was available in closed or open guise and could hit 60mph in a whisker over five seconds and power quickly to the electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
Among the most collectable variants of the XK8 and XKR are the handful that were enhanced in period by Paramount Performance of Beaconsfield, a small firm extant in the 1990s and early 2000s and specialising in the refurbishment and restoration of what were then the “most modern” Jaguars and Daimlers. Originally registered ‘V839 DGF’, our XKR was sold on November 5th, 1999, through Stratstone Jaguar of Mayfair, finished in Platinum paint with Ivory upholstery, Oatmeal headlining, a Black hood and burr walnut trim. The Paramount equipment was purchased in 2002 for the sum of £14,080 by the then-owner, a Mr. Sears of Marylebone, and consisted of a carbon fibre and aluminium body kit, an engine induction system, lowered springs, switchable steering, a chrome mesh grille and 19-inch Futura wheels with triple-eared spinners. Further equipment was purchased from Paramount in 2003, including AP racing brakes. We believe most of the original Paramount parts to be present, although evidently the wheels have been changed.
The third and present owner acquired the XKR in 2010 and enjoyed it for several years before taking it off the road in 2017 to concentrate on enjoying his Aston Martin DB7 Jubilee Edition, which is also in this sale. However the XKR was not neglected and received the attention of the vendor’s preferred marque specialist AJ Tech in 2024, when the fuel pumps were replaced. The vendor also undertook a xenon Level 3 high-performance headlamp and side light conversion in 2010, and most recently serviced the Jaguar in 2016. Wonderfully preserved, it is sold with a large collection of MOTs and invoices, including sales invoices, two original Paramount promotional flyers and a workshop manual on a CD-ROM.
