Introduced at the March, 1999, Geneva Salon, the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage eschewed its predecessor's 3,228cc supercharged straight-six for a 5,935cc 48-valve, all-alloy V12 that developed 420bhp and 400lb. ft. Available with a choice of six-speed manual, five-speed automatic, or (later) Touchtronic semi-auto transmission, the DB7 Vantage could be had in Coupé or Volante (Convertible) guises. The latter had its top speed limited to 165mph but could reportedly accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds. To cope with such performance, the two-plus-two's structure, suspension, and brakes were all upgraded. Asked to rework his masterpiece, stylist Ian Callum added a reshaped back bumper, more pronounced sills, combined driving lamps/indicators, and horizontal bars to the radiator grille. Priced at £104,486 in 2002, Aston Martin's flagship soft-top came with central locking, electric windows/mirrors, traction control, ABS, air-conditioning, front airbags, an alarm/immobilizer, and 18in. alloy wheels as standard. Notable as the marque's first V12 production model, the DB7 Vantage lasted until 2003 by which time some 2,056 Volantes had been made, with just 778 in right-hand drive.
This rare RHD Volante was sold new on May 22nd, 2004, through Paramount of Cardiff to a Mr. Holder. Specified in Stronpay Silver with Mendip Blue and Parchment hide upholstery and burr walnut trim, it passed to its second owner in 2009 and remained near Cardiff until 2017, when it was purchased by the third and present owner for his private collection. Its equipment includes heated seats and mirrors, an analogue clock, and the Aston Martin Becker audio system with six speakers, cassette player, and six-C.D. autochanger.
The Aston’s P.D.I. and first service were performed by Paramount, and it was then serviced nineteen times by Stratstone Cardiff up to April, 2016, and 46,386 miles. In the present ownership, it was serviced in June, 2017, at 48,221 miles by Aston Martin Leeds (JCT 600), then was placed into storage in an air-conditioned garage at 49,220 miles. Since then, it has ventured out twice for an M.O.T. test, in April, 2024, and October, 2025, both times passing with no advisories. The brakes were overhauled in 2017 with new front and rear discs and pads, and rear shoes. The bonnet insulation was renewed, the cross-braces were powder-coated and the arches received stone-guard; the work totalled around £3,000.
The DB7 is offered for sale with history including M.O.T.s back to 2008, service invoices, the vendor’s purchase invoice, DB7 sales literature, the combined owner’s manual and stamped service book, the quick reference guide, and Aston Martin DB7: The Complete Story by Andrew Noakes.
