"Think of the Corvette Z06 as the most amazing version of a sports car that is already amazing by anyone's measure." – Car and Driver
The C7 incarnation of Chevrolet's long-running Corvette débuted at the North American Auto Show at the beginning of 2013. The design, available in both Targa coupe and convertible form with manual or automatic transmission, retained the traditional rear-drive front-engine layout but coupled with a more angular body shape which mixed the familiar fibreglass with carbon fibre and bristled with aerodynamic aids. Great strides were also made in improving the fit and finish of the interior, whilst the electronics package provided everything and more for the serious driver including a Cosworth-developed Performance Data Recorder with video and audio, and telemetry with Track, Sport, Touring and Performance data display depending on your mood!
The ultimate specification was the Z07 Performance Package, as fitted to this manual transmission example, which had been introduced in 2015. The supercharged 6.2-litre LT4 V8 power unit now produced some 650bhp and 650lb ft of torque driving through a seven-speed Tremec manual transmission, featuring selectable drive modes and Active Rev Matching. Revised suspension geometry, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup run-flat tyres, Brembo ceramic brakes, an adjustable rear spoiler, electronically-controlled limited-slip differential and assorted aerodynamic modifications helped keep the prodigious performance in check.
Finished the delightful colour scheme of Laguna Blue with a black hide interior and looking marvellously aggressive, with its wheels tucked with barely an inch to spare inside the special wide arches, this superb low-mileage, two-owner Corvette Z06 represents one of the finest and most charismatic supercars of its generation. This example is extremely highly specified, not only having the Z07 Performance Package (which was a brand-new option for 2015) but also the Carbon Fibre Exterior Styling Package, the Battery Protection Pack and the Performance Data Recorder, plus dark grey brake callipers and black aluminium wheels. Its first owner was none other than the Sussex-based enthusiast Mr. Peter Saywell, whom many will recognise as one of Britain’s foremost supercar collectors and head of the respected aeronautical parts firm Saywell International. Among other things, Mr. Saywell is known for organising charity track days at Goodwood, and commissioning the unique Pagani Zonda PS, one of the first fully bespoke, special-order Paganis. In 2023, his collection was the subject of an episode of Jodie Kidd’s YouTube series Kidd in a Sweet Shop.
The late second owner purchased the Corvette from Mr. Saywell in 2016, when it had covered only around 300 miles, and it was later sold to his son-in-law during 2017. Since then it has been used enthusiastically but sparingly, so that now the total mileage now stands at just over 5,300 miles. It remains in excellent order throughout, as evidenced by an MOT with no advisories, which is valid until May, 2026. The owner has kept a copy on file of every MOT since its first test in 2018, and the car is also sold with its original book pack, a handful of invoices, a copy of Evo’s head-to-head road test of a Z06 and a Porsche 991 GT3, plus assorted articles from other magazines including Road & Track. With its glorious V8 rumble, this Corvette will still turn heads at any supercar meeting.
