The Dino Spider was introduced at the 1966 Turin Motor Show. In common with Ferrari's much vaunted 206 and 246 GT cars, it was penned by Pininfarina, who built the model too. The Fiat also shared the Ferraris' all-alloy, 4-cam, 65 degree V6 engine; the fitment of which in road cars of the time was vital to Ferrari, who needed it sold in a series of 500 cars in order to homologate it for Formula 2 racing. Though designed by Vittorio Jano, the V6 engine was inspired by Enzo Ferrari's son Dino (Alfredo), who sadly died in 1956 at the age of 24 - the Dino branding was a tribute to him. The alternative Coupe body for the Dino was designed and built by Bertone and made its introduction at the Geneva Salon of 1967. The mechanically identical Coupe and Spider initially featured engines of 2-litre capacity and around 160bhp, and suspension comprising coil springs at the front and a live axle set-up with semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. Later Dinos had 2.4-litre engines and independent coil-sprung rear suspension derived from the Fiat 2300S. Braking was by discs all-round on all examples.

This striking 2.0-litre Coupe was produced in 1968 and sports gleaming Orange coachwork teamed with a Black/Red interior. The vendor informs us that it was previously part of a private collection and dry stored for 20 years, but has recently been treated to a £6,000 bare metal respray, for which there are photographs and receipts. In addition: the brakes have been overhauled and a new master cylinder fitted; new exhaust, electric window motors and carpet installed, and a service and MOT carried out. He now regards the bodywork and paintwork as "pristine" and the engine and transmission as "very good".

PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is left hand drive and not right as stated in the catalogue.

PLEASE NOTE: The mileage showing on this vehicle is 58,000km.
