Francis & Barnett Limited was an English motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1919 by Gordon Inglesby Francis and Arthur Barnett and based in Coventry. Early motor cycles were affectionately known as ' Franny B's and were produced for enthusiasts and as affordable bikes for use as general transport. The majority of the lighter motorcycles used Villiers two-stroke engines with the later bigger capacity models using Associated Motor Cycles engines. AMC took over Francis & Barnett Limited in 1947 merging this with the James motorcycle company in 1957 and this combined company remained in business until 1966.

This 1950 125cc Merlin Model 53 is an older restoration that has kept most of the original features in place. Stood for a number of years it will need a good recommissioning, the engine turns over freely on the kickstarter. Whilst there is no V5C it does come supplied with its original buff log book showing the bike being regularly re-taxed up until 1967 and even a couple of what appear to be petrol rationing stamps. Also noted in red ink is an engine replacement in 1953, the original number having been 935/10973D.
